THE Boy.
Gamma Ray is a GIRL! We had our sono today and the sono tech was quite certain we have another girl on the way!
I wasn't quite prepared for the response when I got home - 2 of my children burst into tears saying they wanted a brother! [ACK! Thus why we find out early so they can be prepared ahead of time LOL!]. And The Boy wasn't one of the ones crying LOL!
While I do feel very sad that my son will never have a brother, I have to say I am quite genuinely happy it is a girl - girls are more likely to survive dangerous pregnancies and pre-term birth, which is always good around here. ;) [Cause we ALL know girls are stronger!!!! :) ]
Plus, there is the added bonus of no additional future daughters in law. [Now, if only I can convince my son to be priest I'll be set! LOL!]
Now the fight for the name begins! After 4 previous girls, we are running out of names we can agree on!!!! ;)

Aw! Congratulations! And good luck on the name hunt. If my last baby had been a girl the name would have been Maggie.
Hope all is going well with your health.
WONDERFUL NEWS! You would have made the lady in the Orthodontist's office day today had you told her this.
She looked at us and said, "So, three boys and a girl...well, at least you got your girl out of it!"
WHAT? She said that in fron of my boys.
It was hard to smile and calmly say in return, "I get much more out of it." My eldest was floored and kept recallling it and I tried to tell him that people often speak without thinking and I bet she wished she had phrased it differently.
No matter what you have, it's what God intended and He doesn't make mistakes! Congratulations sweety!
Another girl -- how sweet!!!
You've got the reciepe for girls down! God gave you the boy partly so your girls could compare all Beaus to a higher standard.
No way will they tolerate any nonsense since they know good guys at home!
God bless! Traci I too wanted a Maggie, a little Margaret, Margarita, but my husband wanted to call her Margie. So we picked another name. This is going to be sooo much fun! Stay healthy Kelly!
The darlings and I are praying for you! 8^)
Yay! One more for the girl's team!
"Laura" is a good name...Just puttin' it out there...you don't have to add "thecrazymama" to the end of it.
Eh, I never liked it all that much. It seemed to be too sensible a name. Not pretty, and frilly, and girly like I would have liked for a name.
It IS a strong name, though. Maybe she will be a good, strong girl? I hope so!
Oh Laura! LOL! I always idolized Laura Ingals Wilder and loved the name Laura. Is there a Saint Laura? Maybe then we could squeeze it in there - we have this trend of all our girls being named after female saints and with names that end in an "a". Laura would qualify for at least one of those criteria!
Oh, yeah, and all my girls are tough as nails. LOL! No worries there.
Kelly
My name is Laura Maria. PERFECT because it fills the "a" at the end criteria and it sounds pretty together, AND it honors Mary (if you don't already have a Maria!).I know I said I never liked my name much but I can't lie and say I wouldn't be TICKLED PINK and be bragging about it for days and days if someone named their baby Laura (even if it was only a teeny bit because they knew me and mostly because they just liked the name). My parents always told me that there was a saint Laura but the stories are kind of sketchy. I believe there was and she was boiled in tar as a martyr. I was named for my grandma Laura Theresa who was a wonderful woman. It also is derived a bit from "Laurel" which almost always represents royalty.
All Hail Queen Laura! HAHAHA!
I love coming up with names and the reasons behind them have to be very important. I've been thinking that if I ever had another girl, she'll be named Cecilia. My sibs already have:Lucia, Sophia, Gabriella, Anabella, Paulina, Anika, Amanda and I have Katrina, and Mariela...and those are just the "a" names!
Of course, Lisa Marie is a wonderful name, too, LOL. Congratulations on your little girl! I am very happy for you guys. Your son will be very busy protecting all of his sisters! And, don't ever worry about people's comments. I heard plenty when we had a girl after three boys, too. God bless your wonderful family!
LOL - Laura and Lisa, you know I named my *first* born after the Blessed Mother, so, alas, Maria is already taken! ;)
Yes there is a St. Laura, a saintly Italian widow.
Go ahead and start putting great names in a hat then in the end pick the one you like the most anyway. Any name you pick will be excellent, and for sure will have a thousand angels dancing in heaven over.
(BTW, I went this past weekend up to Quebec City for the International Hockey Competition. But, our biggest event was going to see St. Anne De Beauparie. - I hope to get my act together and update the blog. I guess being Catholic, we have such a rich extended family in Heaven we want to honor our child by giving them a built-in patron saint! I love being Catholic.)
